Expected to begin June 2020
We're excited to introduce our newest offering of customized Dance and Movement classes for IDD individuals off-site for the consumers of the Center.
Since September 2019, we have offered weekly Art Empowerment sessions to the Center's consumers located at Oakwood Church and artists from the New Braunfels Art Council and former art teachers. These sessions provide improvements in fine motor skills, participation, attention span, social skills, and turn taking. Individuals will experience transformation as their quality of life improves, creative expression soars and self-awareness sparkles.
We been providing weekly Music Therapy sessions at the Center since September 2018. Currently, Erin Foltz, Certified Music Therapist from Songbird Music Therapy, is providing weekly Music Therapy session to up over 10 individuals at the Center. Our goal is to expand this therapy to as many individuals who attend the Center, as well as consumers who reside at assisted living facilities so that all can join in the therapeutic experience.
Currently, the individuals at the Center travel weekly (most of the time) to the south side of New Braunfels to the Vegetable Garden Center constructed and maintained by Cemex. They learn how to plant, grow and pick the vegetables. The harvested produce is then delivered and enjoyed at various sites around town such as the New Braunfels Food Bank, Connections and use at the Center.
